Agawam family reunited with lost cat

AGAWAM, Mass. (WWLP) - A very special early Christmas present for one Agawam family.

About three months ago the Gomez family's house cat, named Patter escaped through an open door. They looked for him, but suspected the worst. Someone found the cat though, and brought him to Dakin Pioneer Valley Humane Society.

Thanks to the cat's microchip, they were able to locate the Gomez family and reunite them with their cat on the same day they were reuniting with their soldier.

“I couldn't believe it. I just couldn't,” said AnnMarie Gomez. “I was freaking out on the phone and my daughter was like what are you talking about!”

Carlos Gomez, who is home on military leave, said, “It was great. I just got back on leave today and so my first day back here I get reunited with my cat that I lost.”

Dakin did have to jump through some hoops to find the family; the Gomez family's phone number was unlisted but the Agawam police department was able to help.
