AGAWAM, Mass. (WWLP) - Agawam's Community Relations sub-committee met with their neighbor, West Springfield traffic and safety committee Monday night to talk casinos.
Since Hard Rock proposed to build a resort casino at the Eastern States Exposition in West Springfield, Agawam residents have voiced their concerns about how a casino will affect them.
The chairman of the Agawam Casino Committee told 22News residents are most concerned about traffic.
Chairman of the Casino oversight committee, Richard Theroux said, “We all know what it's like during the fair, which is just a short time. We are all used to it, but this is a different situation. So traffic studies, the entrances and the exits, where they are going to be. We are going to be at that table.
Only West Springfield residents can vote on the casino referendum, but if Hard Rock receives a casino license, Hard Rock will have to negotiate agreements with neighboring communities too.
