SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - Veterans Day is November 11th. American International College Wednesday began a weeklong series of events honoring veterans.

AIC has just been honored as a veteran's friendly college. 70 veterans are enrolled at AIC. Nearly all served in the Middle East and most are women attending AIC's School of Nursing.

They often mentor the younger students. According to Diane Furtek, an AIC Veterans Resource Representative, “We do have some of our students who are tutors and our tutoring center that helps some of our younger adult learn.”

Veterans attending AIC have been invited to the school's annual Veterans Day celebration on Friday.
