All eyes on the presidential debate

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - A nationwide poll, conducted by CNN right after the Wednesday night's Presidential debate, found that two-thirds of people who tuned-in think Mitt Romney won the showdown.

Political analysts from both sides agree the former Massachusetts Governor had a solid performance, as he put President Obama on the defensive on an array of issues.

The most heated exchanges between the two nominees were over health care and the economy. In particular: jobs.

"I just don't know how the President could have come into office, facing 23 million people out of work, rising unemployment, an economic crisis...and spend his energy and passion for two years fighting for "Obamacare" instead of fighting for jobs for the American people", stated Romney.

President Obama responded, "We did work on this, alongside working on jobs, because this is part of making sure that middle-class families are secure in this country."

Other topics discussed included: taxes, entitlements, spending, and the role of government.

An estimated 60 million Americans were watching the debate on T. V., cable, and the web. The event also had quite an impact on social networking sites--especially Twitter. Wednesday night's debate is now being considered  the most "tweeted" event in political history.

President Obama and Romney now prepare for two more debates. The next one will be held in 13 days.NicoleNicN
