Alleged Greenfield bank robber arrested

HOLYOKE / GREENFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - Thursday brings an end to what was an extensive manhunt for 38 year old Richard May .

Greenfield Lt. Dan McCarthy told 22News that May was just arrested by police in Holyoke.

He's suspected of robbing a pair of Greenfield banks, three times in less than a month.

It all began on February 17th when a robbery was reported at the TD Bank on Main Street in Greenfield.

Then again, on March 3rd ; another robbery involving a man matching a similar description.

The most recent robbery came on March 13th when May allegedly held-up the Greenfield Co-operative Bank on Federal Street.

Holyoke Police told 22News May was arrested on two warrants while walking near South Bridge and Hamilton Streets.

He's expected to be in court here in Holyoke today (Thursday) before being taken back to Greenfield.
