SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - A man who allegedly beat a 52 year-old man before stealing his car back in August, has been arrested by Springfield police.

Anthony Johnson, 39, of Springfield, was arrested by members of Springfield’s warrant apprehension unit Monday morning.

Springfield Police Sgt. John Delaney told 22News that around 7:00 P.M. on August 6, police were called to Pendleton Avenue, where a 52 year-old man told officers that he was beaten by a man who was also armed with a knife. The attacker then drove off in the victim’s 1995 Lincoln Town Car.

The victim, whose injuries were minor, went to the police station, where Delaney says he picked out a picture of Johnson as his attacker.

Johnson faces a charge of carjacking.
