SPRINGFIELD, Mass (WWLP) - A 37 year old man was stabbed early this morning in Springfield.

It happened around 3:45 this morning at 339 Boston Road.  Springfield Police Captain Cheryl Clapprood told 22News that the man was stabbed three times.

He was taken to Baystate Medical Center  and is expected to recover...but he is not cooperating with police right now.

Connecticut lawmakers will be weighing legislation this week that would repeal the state's death penalty for future cases.

The proposed legislation would replace the death penalty. with a sentence of life imprisonment without the possibility of release for some murders.

Last year repeal legislation failed in the Senate, due to the on-going death penalty trial in a deadly Cheshire home invasion case.
