SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - Money raised from the sale of a t-shirt dedicated to the memory of Officer Kevin Ambrose will go to his memorial fund.
The shirt, now being sold at Guardian Uniform on Robbins Road in Springfield, is $20 and has Officer Ambrose's badge number 7, the date he was hired, and the date of his final call.
Store manager Peggy Gregoire says they have been busy since they started selling the shirt this past Monday.
“We do it because it's the right thing to do. An officer was killed in the line of duty. We deal with police, city workers every day, and it's an honor to help in any way we can,” Gregoire said.
Richard Tardy of Springfield was among the customers who purchased one of the shirts. “It's a loss to the community to everyone in the community. Everyone is affected,” Tardy said.
It has been more than a week since Officer Ambrose was shot and killed while responding to a domestic call on Lawton Street in Springfield.
