WESTFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - Honoring the fallen in a "Field of Dreams," the 4th annual Jeremiah Hurley Jr. Wiffle Ball Tournament kicked off Friday night in Westfield.
The annual tournament is held in a quarter-sized replica of Fenway Park built by Massachusetts State Trooper Chris Dolan in his own backyard.
This year, proceeds will go towards two funds; one, for the family of fallen Springfield Officer Kevin Ambrose, and the other, a scholarship fund for children of fallen officers.
Trooper Dolan lost his own uncle, also a State Trooper, in the line of duty in 1991. “The sacrifice that these officers made is the greatest sacrifice that can be made, and the sacrifice isn't just theirs, it's their families as well. We just want to honor them and lift them up.”
The tourney runs all weekend and is open to the public. You can also make donations online, for more information click here .
