SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - The Pioneer Valley Planning Commission just released a report of the top 100 dangerous intersections in the area.
The report uses state Department of Transportation data over a period of three years.
The intersection of Boston Road and Parker Street tops the list.
Between 2007 and 2009 there's been 83 total accidents.
The second most dangerous intersection is in Chicopee.
77 accidents have happened where Bridge Street, East Main Street, Broadway, Main Street and Church Street meet.
Here's a look at how it breaks down by city and town.
Springfield is home to nearly half of the top 100 dangerous intersections with 46. Holyoke is a distant second with 14, followed by Chicopee with 12 and West Springfield and Westfield with 8 each.
Despite the high number of crash reports, between 2007 and 2009, only one person has died in a crash at one of the top 10 most dangerous intersections.
The data shows that young adults ages 20-24 have caused the most deadly accidents in the Pioneer Valley.
When it comes to Rotaries, the Agawam Route 57 rotary is the most dangerous in the area with 250 accidents in a three year span.
One thing that may surprise you is that most accidents happened NOT in snowy or rainy weather, but rather, when it was perfectly dry and clear outside.
