Argentinian residents react to new Pope

South American Pope will be great source of pride

WESTFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - The fact that Pope Francis is from Argentina is a great source of pride for Argentine Catholics.
 
Westfield Parishioner Mary Fernandez told 22News she was especially thankful for the new pope because she lived in Argentina with her late husband.
  
She said the fact that the new pope is from Latin America adds to her sense of religion and nationality.

"And I'm glad too, because of the Argentine people, because i used to be married to Esteban for 27 years in Buenos Aires and Mendoza.  And it's a very Catholic people, “Fernandez said.

Fernandez told 22News the choosing of a South American Cardinal to be Pope will be a source of great national pride for all Latin people.
