Arrest made in 11th murder of 2011

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - Springfield police have arrested 28-year-old Kimani Anderson of Springfield for murder.

Springfield Police Sergeant John Delaney told 22News that Anderson was arrested for the murder of Tyrel Wheeler last July 7th.

Wheeler crashed his car at Washington Street and Draper Street after being shot in the face and chest.

Kimani was arrested Tuesday by Springfield police and Massachusetts State police while hiding out at a home at 147 Shawmut Street in Springfield.

Anderson will be charged with murder, carrying a firearm, possession of a firearm and discharging a firearm.

He will be arraigned in Springfield District Court Tuesday.
