CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) - Eleven students in our state now have a little more money to pursue their broadcasting career.

Wilbraham's Neliana Ferraro, Springfield's Luis Arzola, and Athol's Aaron Carr are among the winners. They stopped by 22News on Thursday to pick up their scholarship money presented by the Massachusetts Broadcasters Association .

The organization gave out ten $2,000 scholarships and one $3,000 scholarship to students pursuing a career in broadcasting.

The students say that every penny counts when pursuing a career you love.

“It’s a great help, monetarily,” Arzola said. “Nowadays, financial aid does not cover everything. Now, I'm entering a new college with loans, so this will be great.”

Carr said that he has a commitment to broadcasting. “From day one, is all its been about for me,” he said.

The students vary in ages, some are already studying broadcast journalism in school, while one is getting ready to enter their freshman year.
