Barnes jets in training mission over NY

WESTFIELD, Mass. (WWLP-AP) - Two F-15 fighter jets based in Westfield are taking part in an alert exercise over eastern New York.

New York military officials said the fighter jets from the Massachusetts Air National Guard's 104th Fighter Wing were scheduled to fly Wednesday morning and this afternoon over the areas of Albany and Rome, New York.

According to military officials, the exercises train the pilots for reacting to airspace violations, hijackings and unknown aircraft.
