Baystate opens new emergency center

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - It's time to officially open Baystate Medical Center's new emergency and trauma center.

It's a $45-million dollar facility more than three times the size of the hospital's current emergency department.

It'll officially open to patients at 7:30AM Monday.

The new center has separate adult and pediatric care areas, state-of-the-art trauma and imaging rooms and a secure space dedicated to behavioral-health care.
