CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) - Thursday night the Chicopee City Council unanimously approved a special permit for the Friendly's restaurant on Memorial Drive. The permit will allow them to serve beer and wine along with food and ice cream.
Friendly's patrons had mixed reactions to the news. "You go to any other restaurant and they sell alcohol so why not. If its gonna bring business to the town I guess it will be good," said Olga Vega of Westfield.
Chicopee resident Dorren Luszcz said, "Friendly's has always been known as a friendly restaurant ice cream and never had liquor served and I think it should remain that way."
No word yet on when the Friendly's will begin serving alcohol.
