WEST SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - The big casino announcement at the "Big E" is getting closer.

The "Big E" and Hard Rock still aren't saying anything publicly, but the announcement is expected on Friday.

Wednesday, the 22News I-Team discovered that the "Big E" has been inquiring about buying land on Memorial Avenue next to the Eastern States Exposition.

The owners of a car wash and its property on Memorial Avenue next to the Eastern States Exposition told the 22News I-Team that they have received letters from the "Big E".

Nick Katsoulis of Spartan Muffler, who also owns the property where Richard's Grinders is, also received a letter.

22News also has left a message for the owner of Father & Sons about this.

The Mass Gaming Commission told 22News that Hard Rock has not paid it's $400,000 application fee yet.
