SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - A disturbance at the Eastfield Mall Saturday night left some shoppers shaken.

Springfield Police Sgt John Delaney told 22News a brawl broke out around 8 pm involving 30 to 40 young teenagers.

The group ran from police through the Macy's store, knocking over merchandise.

Macy's ended up locking their doors.

An eyewitness shopping at Macy's told 22News at first, she thought it was a flash mob, but quickly realized something was wrong. "One of them suddenly yelled "go, run!" and they all stampeded through the aisles, knocking things over, trampling people, I can't believe these kids are doing this."

One person was arrested but they were not directly involved.

Nothing was reported stolen.

Sergeant Delaney told 22News Springfield Police will be there "in force" to discourage any other groups from gathering.
