Bright Nights officially opened for its 18th season

Displays will be using new LED bulbs

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - It's the 18th season of Springfield’s drive through lights experience, and this year Bright Nights is going green.

Now, the lights won't all be green, but instead many of the Bright Nights displays will be using new LED bulbs. LED bulbs are high efficiency, low energy bulbs that provide lower energy usage and a long life compared to more traditional bulbs.

The bulbs aren't the only new addition this year. There's a new building coming to the Victorian Village section of the display, replacing one that was destroyed in the October 2011 snow storm.

Bright Nights lights will be lit through this Sunday, then from December 5th through January 1st, starting every day at 5pm. Lights stay on until 9pm Sunday through Thursday and until 11pm on Fridays, Saturdays and Holidays.

Admission is 18 dollars per vehicle Monday through Thursday and 21 dollars per vehicle Fridays, Saturdays and Holidays.
