SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - Some lucky Bruins fans got the thrill of a lifetime Sunday when 2-time Stanley Cup champion Shawn Thornton made a stop at the MassMutual Center in Springfield.
Dunkin' Donuts provided four lucky 22News Thursday Trivia winners with the chance to meet and skate with Thornton before the Falcons game Sunday afternoon.
Thornton signed autographs and took pictures with each winner.
One of the winners, Nicholas Biondo, was more than thrilled to meet him. "It's a once in a lifetime opportunity I'm ecstatic! The minute I found out I said 'oh my god, I cannot even believe I just won.'"
"I love this kind of thing, said Thornton, "to see the smiles on their faces and to see it happen for these kids is pretty cool."
Thornton dropped the ceremonial first puck before the game. The Falcons beat the Sound Tigers 5 to 1.
