Businesses react to Davitt Bridge closing

Bridge closing will complicate deliveries

CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) - The Davitt Bridge that connects Granby Road to Chicopee center will close Monday for two years.

On Monday, we looked at how the closing would affect those who use the bridge a lot, like emergency responders or customers going to eat or shop.

But drivers who use the bridge to get out of the center are just as concerned.

“It is going to be an inconvenience because our delivery drivers also have to go out about a hundred times a week they go over that bridge. We're worried a little bit about those guys having to go around every time they have a delivery,” said co-owner and manager Brian O’Connor.

Quicky’s has been in business for 25 years, and O'Connor hopes their many loyal customers will still visit despite a possible detour onto I-391 to get there.
