Man injured following accident

29 year old crashed into a tree near Cady Street

LUDLOW, Mass. (WWLP) - A 29 year old man is clinging to life after suffering serious head and facial injuries during a car accident in Ludlow .

Sgt. Joe Metcalf told 22News the man crashed his car into a tree near Grimes Street just before 6:30 Monday night.

As a result of the crash, a section of Cady Street was closed for about four hours while the State Police Accident Reconstruction Team investigated.

Sgt. Metcalf said speed was a factor in the crash.

The man was taken to Baystate Medical Center with what Sgt. Melcalf described as "serious blunt force trauma injuries."

The victim was still in the hospital Tuesday morning, Ludlow Sgt. Louis Tulik said. His name is not being released at this time, as police are still trying to notify his family.

The District Attorney's Office has been notified.
