Howard Beardslee of Westfield killed in crash

WESTFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - A crash between an SUV and a bicycle killed a 60 year old man from Westfield this weekend. Howard Beardslee died following the crash on Western Avenue Sunday afternoon .

Westfield Police Officer Stephen Gonglik notified 22News that Beardslee had died by the time they got him to Noble Hospital.

Officer Gonglik said that the Ford Explorer hit the bike while they were both traveling in the same direction when the crash happened, right in front of Westfield State University.

32 year old Brian Benoit of Westfield was reportedly behind the wheel of the Explorer. He has not been cited by Westfield police at this time.
