WESTFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - Westfield Police are investigating a carbon monoxide death.

Fire Captain Paul Lentini told 22News preliminary reports show the carbon monoxide may have come from an oil burner but the investigation is not complete.

Captain Lentini said a housekeeper called 9-1-1 around 3 Thursday afternoon after finding an unconscious man and woman at 118 Elizabeth Ave.

They were rushed to Baystate Medical Center where the woman was declared dead.

Captain Lentini says this is another reminder to check your carbon monoxide detectors. "This is the time when snow is going to build up on the outside of the house and ice and that's going to cause carbon monoxide to build up in the house, it's important that you don't ignore them and get it checked if it does go off."

The names of the man and woman have not yet been released.

Captain Lentini said they were believed to be between 50 and 60 years old.
