Casino consultants present findings

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - On Wednesday night we heard from the city's casino consultants on what their research says about each casino developer.

They presented a sort of spreadsheet that will outline what sort of issues they found and also what kind of benefits the developers could provide as well.

They're meeting with the casino site committee and residents are asked to speak as well about what they want from the casino host agreement.

Once the consultants and residents have given their input the site committee will make a list of what they want in a host agreement and pass it on to the city council.

The city solicitor said the consultants have done a lot of research and he said there are concerns for both proposals but they want to find what best works for the city.

He also told us what they have heard about the biggest concerns.

“Most people are concerned with traffic and public safety and those are probably the biggest issues on people’s minds,” City Solicitor Edward Pikula told 22News.

The Site Committee will make a list of what they want in a host agreement and pass it on to the City Council.

The Council will then make recommendations to the mayor.

He is expected to announce his decision by February 11th.
