SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - Members of the public have the chance to hear about two casino proposals in the City of Springfield on Tuesday.
MGM Resorts International and Penn National Gaming will present their proposals in detail at City Stage in downtown Springfield starting at 5:00. The public is invited to attend the event and ask questions.
Kevin Kennedy, Springfield’s Chief Development Officer, told 22News that this is a great opportunity to hear about the different proposals.
“Participating in an event like this is always exciting. Getting a first-hand look is a great experience. At the very least, they can watch this on TV, but we’d love for them to come out,” Kennedy said.
Only Springfield residents will be allowed to ask questions. The event is expected to last at least four hours.
MGM wants to build a casino in Springfield’s South End while Penn National wants to build in the North End. A third proposal for a casino in East Springfield, advanced by Las Vegas-based Ameristar, was recently dropped.
