CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) - Chicopee Police have charged Reynaldo Reyes of Holyoke with armed masked robbery in connection with Monday afternoon's robbery of the Furnari Jewelry Store on Memorial Drive.

Police Lt. Patrick Major told 22News that Chicopee Police have posted a guard outside Reyes' hospital room at an unspecified western Massachusetts hospital.  Reyes is being held without the right to bail.

Lt Major said Reyes will likely be arraigned from his hospital bed some time Wednesday.

Reyes was reportedly wounded during a robbery of Furnari Jewelers Monday afternoon.  Store owner, Anthony Furnari told 22News ITeam Reporter Laura Hutchinson that he fired several shots at two masked men who grabbed some gold chains and wrestled his handgun away from him during a violent struggle.

Furnari suffered cuts, bruises and a concussion.

Lt Major had no information on the condition of Reynaldo Reyes.
