Chicopee Police Captain sworn in

CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) - Chicopee Police Lt. Mark Gilbert was promoted to the rank of Captain Wednesday.

The 20-year law enforcement veteran took the oath in Mayor Michael Bissonette's office.

The Mayor told 22News the Chicopee Police Department will soon be back up to full strength.

He's filling nine vacancies. Three recruits are now in training. Six more will soon be hired.
