CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) - Police in Chicopee are looking at surveillance footage to help them find a man who assaulted a woman as she was opening the Dugout Café in Willimansett.
Police Chief Tom Charette told 22News that the woman, an employee, was opening the restaurant when a Hispanic man wearing a white or gray hooded sweatshirt assaulted her with some type of weapon (police are not releasing information on the weapon at this time.) He said that the attack was an attempted robbery.
The victim was taken to Baystate Medical Center, where Charette says she is expected to recover.
Because of the café’s location at the busy corner of Grattan and Meadow Streets, there are some nearby businesses that may have surveillance footage, which police are hoping will lead them to a suspect.Anth
