Christmas tree buying begins in WMass

CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) - The turkey is off the table and the leftovers are packed up, so for many western Massachusetts residents, that means time to go out and buy a Christmas tree.

Buyers arrived Friday morning at Paul Bunyan’s Farm on Fuller Road in Chicopee to pick out their perfect tree, and bring it home to decorate.

Paul and Liz Duquette of West Springfield have been coming to Paul Bunyan’s for the last dozen years. They told 22News it’s a lot more fun and relaxing to be there with their children than trying to beat the crowds on Black Friday.

“This is a great way to have family time, instead of going to the malls or shopping and fighting for the best deals. This is what it’s about- it’s family,” Liz Duquette said.

The Duquettes actually went to the farm to pick out the tree they wanted back in September, and came back on Black Friday to bring it home.
