Church holds concert for New Year’s Eve

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - Live from Springfield its Saturday Night Live!

That's what Saint John's Congregational Church is calling its New Years extravaganza. The worship concert started at 9pm and will keep going after the clock strikes midnight.

This year's party features BET singer Crystal Aiken.

It's the first time in many years the church has held a late night celebration.

Calvin McFadden, the pastor at St. John’s Church, told 22News, “Many folks in our congregation, and certainly in our community, feel that the right place to be for the New Year is in worship, so this is just a time of celebration.”

This year's event took 6 months of planning to pull off.
