SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - The Springfield City Council voted to appeal the building permits for Palmer Renewable Energy's Biomass Plant Wednesday.
Wednesday night a second special meeting was held regarding these building permits and the appeal will now go to the Zoning Board.
The City Council took back a special permit from PRE back in May. The city however, said the building permits were issued legally but the City Council disagrees. The majority saying there's a zoning issue by putting the biomass plant in Springfield.
Springfield City Councilor John Lysak told 22News, "Incinerators do call for a special permit, they're trying to argue in saying that it's not an incinerator but last I know when you've got a big building and throw wood in the burner, that's incinerating it."
All but two members of the Springfield City Council voted to appeal the building permits for the biomass plant.
