SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - Springfield City Councilor John Lysak met his constituents half way on Saturday.
Lysak shared tax abatement forms with residents at the Indian Orchard Citizens’ Council office. Lysak told 22News, if people qualify for a tax break, they should have a chance to apply.
“A lot of people could use some extra money and a lot of people can use that extra money right now,” said Lysak. “We gave them the opportunity to apply for abatements on their property.”
According to Lysak, a lot of people don't have an opportunity to get to City Hall and some don't have access to the internet.
He felt that distributing the forms at the Indian Orchard Citizens’ Council would be a good way to reach out and help.
