SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - If you live in Springfield and did not pay your trash fee in 2009 or 2010, you can expect a lien on your upcoming tax bill.

Springfield Treasurer Stephen Lonegran announced Friday that the city was processing liens against properties with unpaid trash fee bills from Fiscal Year 2010, which lasted from July 1, 2009 through June 30, 2010.

Payments received will first be applied to the lien, and then the accumulated interest, before it goes to paying off the principal of your property tax bill.

The bill is being mailed out Friday.
