SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - Classes were cancelled at American International College in Springfield Tuesday, after a freshman student took his own life.
College Spokesman Craig Greenberg told 22News Tuesday that in response to the student taking his own life, the school chose to cancel classes to give students the chance to take advantage of grief counseling services.
"This is a small tight-knit community and like any family, it's like losing a family member. So have grief counselors on campus all day today to provide assistance to not only students, but faculty and staff as well," Greenberg said.
There will also be a moment of silence in memory of the student, whose name is not being released out of respect to his family.
