SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - Dozens of residents and business owners affected by Friday’s gas explosion on Worthington Street received information Monday on the claims process with Columbia Gas.

The company has set up a claims center at Room 220 of Springfield City Hall. It will be open again on Tuesday to handle the number of claims expected to come in.

“There’s no question about what caused the explosion, so at that point, it’s our responsibility to make sure we take care of people,” Columbia Gas Spokesperson Sheila Dorion said. “We still step up and we get them the assistance as soon as possible.”

The company expects anywhere between 100 and 200 claims.
