LUDLOW, Mass. (WWLP) - Construction began Wednesday on the new HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital in Ludlow.
The new hospital at the former Ludlow Mills site will replace the smaller hospital, located a few blocks away on Chestnut Place. The facility will have the same 53 beds, but will be twice the size of the old hospital.
Former patients spoke with 22News about their experiences there
“November of 2008, I suffered a stroke, and in May of 2009, they gave me all kinds of therapy,” Anthony Before of Springfield said.
“Well you know a standard hospital can save your life, but a rehab hospital gives you your life back,” Jim Garrat of Holyoke said.
It is expected to take a year and a half to finish the new HealthSouth hospital.
