HOLYOKE, Mass. (WWLP) - Some of your favorite storybook characters came to life in Holyoke Saturday night.
The Friends of the Holyoke Public Library organization held their annual costume party, which supports community literacy programs. People were encouraged to dress as their favorite character, author or book. The Holyoke library is temporarily located in the City Hall auditorium, but the city is doing its best to make readers comfortable for the time being.
“We're soon to launch a campaign to raise money to restore the stain glass windows here. The Library is in this location temporarily until the library is complete next summer,” said Holyoke Mayor Alex Morse.
Friends of the Holyoke Public Library hope to have next year's costume party back at their newly renovated Maple Street home.
