WESTFIELD, Mas. (WWlP) - A Massachusetts State Police cruiser and a Westfield State University police cruiser were involved in a crash on Western Avenue in Westfield, leaving memorial services for a Westfield police officer.
Massachusetts State Police spokesman David Procopio told 22News shortly after 1:15 Thursday afternoon the cruisers crashed driving away from memorial services for Westfield Police Officer Jose Torres.
According to Procopio, the Westfield State University cruiser was carrying a university official and two staff members. Those three people, as well as the Westfield State University officer and the State Trooper were taken to Noble Hospital in Westfield.
The Westfield State University officer and the two staff members were treated and released.
The State Trooper and the university official remain at the hospital for further evaluation. The facts and circumstances of this crash are being investigated by Massachusetts State Police and Westfield State University Police.
