Cyber deals lure online shoppers

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - Millions of consumers are getting online to shop Monday, taking advantage of major discounts and deals during Cyber Monday.

"It's less stress, less of a hassle.  At least you don't have to worry about finding a place to park," said Dee Pelletier of Springfield, who plans to take advantage of the online deals offered for Cyber Monday. 

The National Retail Federation expects people to spend an additional one and a half billion dollars during the online shopping frenzy.

That's after spending nearly 60-billion in stores and online over the long holiday weekend.

Amazon, Sears, and Kmart all offered special deals for online shoppers, slashing prices on favorites like the Kindle and Maytag washers and dryers.

But the lure of these cyber deals might be wearing off.

"The holiday season has another month to go.  Look for those great deals because they'll be there Monday and then they'll be there Tuesday and Wednesday and they'll be there all the way up until and including Christmas," said Tod Marks of Consumer Reports.

That could mean another 30 days of online deals that will have consumers clicking away this holiday season.
