SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - The Dakin Pioneer Valley Humane Society is helping people with pets who have been affected by the storm.
Dakin Spokeswoman Candy Lash told 22News, "People who are displaced and need temporary care for their animals, Dakin will house and provide care for up to five days. If additional time is needed, the humane society will negotiate on a case by case basis."
If people are seeking alternate shelter, do not leave your animals behind. Exotic pets such as reptiles and birds need warm temperatures.
Dakin also has a pet food bank to assist anyone who may need help with the daily care of their animals, such as pet food and basic supplies.
For more information call (413) 781 - 4000, if you are unable to call Dakin will be open from noon to 5:00 p.m.
