WEST SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - This time of year a lot of us are being reminded of ways we deal with single digit temperatures.
The numbers said 24 degrees on the digital thermometer on the First Niagara Bank sign in West Springfield Wednesday night. But those numbers started dropping fast.
The 22News storm team predicted that sign could read "ZERO" or a little lower by Thursday morning.
22News found the extreme cold changes people's normal behaviors. Springfield resident Davonta Lee said he planned to use an alternative heat source, "Space heaters. I'm in the basement right now so yeah. Bundle up and keep warm."
Marco Amato of West Springfield planned to avoid the frigid air. "I won't take my normal morning walk. So I'll be staying in the car as much as i can," Amato said.
Nyesha Gonzalez of sSpringfield told 22News she just planned to stay inside with her blanket and drink some coffee.
The theme we keep hearing people come back to is, when the cold drops down to extremely low temperatures, it's just best to stay indoors.
