WESTFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - Westfield police say that the death of an elderly woman discovered near the train tracks is not being considered suspicious.

The woman’s lifeless body was found near the tracks at Turnpike Industrial Road and Lockhouse Road on Monday afternoon.

Police Lt. David Ragazini told 22News that the woman was a nearby resident who had wandered away from home. He says that the woman had short-term memory issues.

Police cannot say for sure what caused her death until an autopsy is complete, but they are confident that it was not suspicious.

The woman’s identity will not be publicly released.
