LONGMEADOW, Mass. (WWLP) - The woman who is accused of robbing a Longmeadow bank on March 24 turned herself in to police Monday night.

Longmeadow Police Capt. John Stankiewicz told 22News that Desiree Ferreira, 19, of Westfield is charged with unarmed robbery and receiving stolen property.

Police allege that on March 24, Ferreira entered the Berkshire Bank branch on Longmeadow Street and handed the teller a note demanding cash. She then allegedly left the bank with money and made a getaway in a gray sedan driven by a man.

According to Stankiewicz, police believe that man is Douglas Morse, 32, of Westfield. Police have not caught him, but there is a warrant out for his arrest. The vehicle used in the robbery has not been found.

Ferreira turned herself in after learning that she was wanted by police for questioning, Stankiewicz said.

Meanwhile, Longmeadow police continue to investigate the robbery of the Hampden Bank branch on Longmeadow Street, which happened on March 29. This robbery is not believed to be related to the Berkshire Bank robbery.

The suspect in the Hampden Bank robbery is described as a black man about 6’ tall with a medium to heavy build. At the time of the robbery, he was wearing a blue or gray coat, jeans, and a Red Sox cap.

Hampden Bank is offering a reward for information leading to the suspect’s arrest, Stankiewicz said.
