CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) - New details were released Thursday on this year's Great New England Airshow at Westover Air Force Base and the air show's kick-off breakfast.
Making the announcements, Chicopee Mayor Michael Bissonnette joined the air show's director and members of the Galaxy Community Council , which is the non-profit group that helps fund the event.
This year's show is expected to be bigger and better than ever, according to Air Show Director, Lt Col David Heroux.
“We wanted to try and distinguish ourselves from the previous shows. Although the other shows were great, the breath of the airplanes we have both modern and vintage--I think--will really set us apart,” Heroux said.
This year's theme is a "Salute to the Greatest Generation," and will include World War II reenactments, C-5's, and more.
There will also be a kick-off breakfast on Friday, August 3rd. Tickets will be on sale through the end of this month.
Parking and admission to the air show on the 4th and 5th is free.
