SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - If you're going out in Greater Springfield on New Year's Eve, you can get a free ride home.
For more than 30 years, Yellow Cab and community partners, the United Way of Pioneer Valley, Williams Distributing and Rock 102/Lazer 99.3 have been offering free rides on New Year's Eve to people who have been drinking.
Debra Foley of the United Way of Pioneer Valley , one of the sponsors, says that it provides an important service.
“It really gives people an opportunity to do the right thing, call the cab and get a ride home safely,” Foley said.
There are some rules about these free rides, though. Passengers will only be driven to the address on their license. You can get dropped-off in Northampton, but the company will not pick you up there.
The Dial-a-ride program begins Monday night at 8:00 P.M. It continues through Tuesday morning, January 1 at 6:00 A.M. If you want a ride, just call Yellow Cab at (413) 739-9999.
