SPRINGFIELD (MASS) - The intersection of Cottage Street and Berkshire Avenue in Springfield closed Wednesday afternoon because of a diesel fuel spill.
Aide to the Springfield Fire Commissioner Dennis Leger told 22News a tractor trailer was in an accident there and spilled about fifty gallons of diesel fuel.
According to Leger some of that fuel flowed into the sewer system. Both the accident and spill happened around noontime.
Cleanup and work is expected to continue for a couple of more at hours.
