Diesel fuel spilled onto Rt. 141 in Holyoke

HOLYOKE, Mass. (WWLP) - A diesel fuel spill on Route 141 ( Easthampton Road) in Holyoke had traffic down to a single lane in the area just west of the Interstate 91 on and offramps for most of the morning Tuesday.

Fire Department Lieutenant Tom Paquin told 22News a generator being carried on a truck from Chicopee started leaking diesel fuel near the intersection of Easthampton Road and Old Jarvis Avenue.

Some 15 gallons of fuel have leaked onto the road. Workers from  Western Mass Environmental and the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection were able to contain the leak.

Despite the lane closure, there were no major traffic backups.
