Diocese to go into arbitration

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - The Catholic Diocese of Springfield is locked in an arbitration battle with their insurance company over what it'll cost to reconstruct Cathedral High School.

They plan to negotiate. The arbitration panel's first meeting is Monday.

They'll meet two other times this month and then five more times in November before hopefully coming to a final decision by December.

The Diocese says the June 1st tornado of last year caused about $70-million dollars in damage to the school.

Their insurance company, Catholic Mutual, has only offered to pay $15-million.

The panel will also determine the amount of loss suffered at St. Michael's Academy Middle School.

Cathedral High School students spent all of last year in Wilbraham at the Memorial School and they are back there again for at least the rest of this year.
