HOLYOKE, MASS (WWLP) - Texting while driving is a growing trend, and quickly becoming one of the country's top killers.

According to the National Safety Council, it is the number one driving distraction reported by teens.

Now there's an app to keep your kids from texting or talking on the phone.  It's getting mixed reviews.

Amy Rust told 22news "I think it would distract kids more. I think if you have a new driver they just need to focus on the road. They shouldn't have a phone anywhere near them, when  they're driving. "

Cindy Kwajewski told 22news "Adolescents think that they are invincible, so anything that will keep them safe, I'm for it."

Not everyone agrees, one person told 22News, it could create new distractions, defeating the purpose.

Nguyen Tan told 22news "Applications are applications and they're going to be distracted. I think people can't put they're phone down."
